Who was the genius that planned SXSW during St. Patrick's Day? I want his/her head.
Even more than a mile away from Sixth Street, parking downtown is darn near impossible. Even near UT Austin, which is where I just came from, parking is tough. Traffic is bedlam. Folks are already drunk. Irish cheer may be just about everywhere, but this kind of cross-purpose revelry really makes things rough on those of us actually trying to get into shows, especially the daytime ones. At times today I've wanted to shriek the following: "Unlike many of you, I actually WANT to see this band! Now get outta the line!"
Light schedule tonight: I'll be seeing the Nightwatchman, Tom Morello's solo acoustic project, and a couple of other acts. I've likely missed catching fabled UK punkers Buzzcocks; the line outside Emo's Main Room is prodigious. Besides, I really don't wanna get caught in a mosh on St. Patty's Day, especially since my ancestry's Scottish (and heck no, I'm not wearing green).
